It is believed that the Godsess Dakshinkali was being respected as incorporeal and spiritual figure gave a Darshan( bless) to king Pratap Malla in his dream at night and advised him to construct the Goddess Dakshinkali by setting up the idol of the Goddess.

Accordingly, the king ordered to repare the stone- idol of the Goddess Dakshinkali which is also known as Dakshinkali Aamnaayanaayikaa, and performed the work of consecrating the image of the Goddess in the temple in a traditional manner pertaining to the Mantra at the meeting place of two holly rivulets named as Poornabati( emblem of completeness) and Udhabarbati( Emblem of salvation). Since then undoubtedly Goddess Dakshinkali is being one of the most trustworthy and wish-accomplished Goddess among pilgrims.
