Over the centuries the branch of Ayurveda in Nepal has deviated from the branch of Ayurveda in India (which at that point in world history was not known as "India", nor was Nepal known as "Nepal").

One of the most profound differences can be found within the techniques of massage. Nepal's massage tradition is dramatically different from that of the Indian Ayurvedic tradition, while they do have the same roots.
